Microneedling

Microneedling, is a treatment that involves using a small handheld device to puncture very tiny holes in the surface of the skin. It is also known as collagen induction therapy.

At NEA Medical Aesthetic Clinic we use The Eclipse MicroPen®. This revolutionary cordless dermal micro-needling device is being used by skincare professionals across the globe.  Microneedling’s ability to naturally stimulate the growth of collagen and elastin, which is the key to reversing the visible signs of aging, is one of the main benefits.

As the years go by, our skin begins to lose elasticity, causing dermal structures to become weaker, and lines begin to form on the surface of the skin. Since facial wrinkles, sun damage, and aging skin are primarily caused by collagen and elastin depletion, microneeding can help result in the reduction of fine lines, wrinkles, and scars. The treatment works by breaking down old scar tissue and stimulating the skin cells to multiply by triggering the body’s natural wound-healing process. The tiny holes made in the skin cause “micro-injuries”, which in turn prompt collagen production in the skin, thus using the body’s own natural healing process..

Collagen production helps fill in fine lines and wrinkles as well as plump the skin for a more youthful look. By promoting collagen production, micro-needling can also help fade acne scars and reduce pore size, leaving the skin looking more refreshed and revitalized.

What to Expect?

For people receiving microneedling treatment a numbing cream is applied to the treatment area prior to the treatment. Mild discomfort similar to a sunburn after treatment, may be expected. This should resolve within a few hours, though a little redness can remain for a day or two.
