As we age there is a natural loss in the elasticity around the skin that supports the pores. This causes pores to appear bigger than they actually are. When looking at gender, men tend have larger pores in comparison to women. This is due to their genetic makeup and increased oil production. Lastly, our body produces a substance called Sebum. Sebum, naturally hydrates the skin to prevent it from drying. Sebum is very oily and individuals who produce more will find that oily skin causes larger pores.
